ORIGIN in action - makes it to an ATLAS week plenary slide

ATLAS plenary slide

“Cultural Collisions in Canada” was the first events co-organised by ORIGIN partners in April and June 2018, in Toronto. This interdisciplinary exhibition, lecture and workshop series based on the art@CMS methodology was co-curated by ORIGIN partners and Lisa Cole, Education Officer at the Ministry of Education, Toronto.

Social media coverage of the scientists exhibit and students exhibit

To launch the learning journey, an exhibition was set at the Ontario Science Centre, during April 9 - April 15, 2018. The exhibit covered topics ranging from particle physics to cosmology through images, objects and art pieces. Workshops were organised within the exhibit, where students discovered physics concepts through hands-on experiences and explored artistic expression through interactive sessions with guests artists.

The students experience was turned in the following weeks into a source of inspiration for their own installations, developed in their schools with support from their science and art teachers. Students pieces were exhibited in the same museum, in June 2018. Summary slides by Michael Hoch and the official report are attached below.

Within ATLAS, this project and the ORIGIN first steps were presented to the outreach group and one slide made it to an ATLAS week plenary talk ! This was the only mention of ORIGIN in this context, quite memorable.

Many many thanks to the ATLAS-Canada main contributors: Peter Krieger and Karola Dette.
