Yet another EPS Outreach Parallel Session ?

EPS 2015 was a first: freshly elected as ATLAS outreach coordinator, I was primarily involved in ATLAS Citizen Science projects which did not have any equivalent in HEP and more generally interdisciplinary partnerships. No talk means no money  and thus no official registration, but I was kindly accepted by the conference communication team and spent the whole week in the media room, discovering what running such events looks like.

EPS 2017 was in organised Venice. No way to join that one either, unfortunately. But a lovely remote contribution on the role of image in our communication, a theme on which I had worked with the CERN Diversity office, the ATLAS photographer and visually impaired visitors. I am told that the first seeds of ORIGIN were planted during that conference, thanks to the " Art Science across Italy" exhibit.

Two years later, ORIGIN contributors gathered in Ghent for the first EPS outreach parallel session dedicated to Art Science. Thanks to the organisers we managed to escape from the outreach program described on the ORIGIN project web page to discuss on the setup, concepts and building blocks of the ORIGIN partnership.

If there is one lesson that I've learned in 6 years, it is that internal communication is as vital at the external one, and a never ending effort. Many other little steps will be needed to deepen and foster such initiatives.
